Jesse Marimat's Ironman
About Jesse Marimat
Jesse Marimat is a patient advocate living with Alpha Thalassemia who has turned endurance sports into a powerful platform for awareness. His journey began in 2015, when he completed his first 5K run fundraiser—an experience that inspired him to start running not just for fitness, but to shine a light on rare diseases and the communities affected by them.
Living with a chronic condition, Jesse challenges the notion that diagnoses define limitations. Every mile he runs is a statement that people are more than their conditions, and that strength can take many forms. Through his advocacy and athletic pursuits, he continues to encourage others living with chronic and rare diseases to pursue their goals on their own terms.
Jesse set an ambitious goal for himself: to complete an Ironman event by the age of 40. Now 39, he is embarking on a new chapter of that journey by competing in an Ironman 70.3 relay. Given that iron overload is the primary complication of Alpha Thalassemia, Jesse found it especially meaningful—and symbolic—to take on an Ironman challenge. For him, the race represents more than endurance; it is a testament to resilience, purpose, and redefining what is possible.
